The in-app extension takes place purely on S4/HANA and is subject to some restrictions.
- Only designated apps, fields, and data sources can be extended.
- Only OData services of custom business objects are supported. OData services of custom CDS views cannot be used.
- API services in SAP Business Accelerator Hub are not supported. They are only released for external use.
- API services in the SAP Business Accelerator Hub and OData services of custom CDS views can be consumed by side-by-side extensions in SAP BTP.
A side-by-side app is a separate app that accesses services of the “template app” or its replicated data in another database. It can be changed regardless of release cycles.
